MADD Monday Event 3/06/23

    The DOS Ambassadors had a blast working with Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) to spread awareness and education about alcohol and other drug consumption, distracted driving, driving under the influence, and the effects drugs and alcohol can have on our bodies! We had games to play while wearing drunk goggles, a banner you could sign as a pledge not to let you or your friends drive drunk, a crashed car from a drunk driving accident, and lots of flyers and pamphlets to spread education and information regarding alcohol and other drugs! 



Pictured on the left is one of our lovely students who came out to learn more about the cause and pledged never to drive drunk after seeing the crashed car and hearing the tragic story of the 4 men who lost their lives at the hand of a drunk driver. 






On the right you can see some students learning more about the consequences of alcohol and drugs, signing our banner to pledge never to let themselves or their friends drive drunk, and you can even spot some of the drunk goggles we had ranging from easy, moderate, and hard difficulty. 

Be careful, the hard goggles were equivalent to being 'totally wasted' and some students couldn't walk in a straight line!





Below you'll find a video of a student who did really well walking in a straight line while wearing our moderately difficult drunk goggles! If you ask me, we should've given them the hard ones!




In this video, you can see how terrible your perception becomes when you're under the influence of alcohol. You can also see how students started compensating for their inability to hit the target: something you also see in drunk drivers!

    This was a great event and we thank MADD for coming out and helping us make students more aware of how drinking and other drugs can affect their health and ability to function and make decisions. We hope this event enlightened you and look forward to seeing you at the next one!
